New York State Mentoring Program
The New York State Mentoring Program utilizes a one-to-one school based mentoring approach. The program matches students with screened and trained mentors. Mentors will be high school students from the Clyde-Savannah CSD that can commit to the academic school year. Their main responsibilities will be modeling appropriate behavior, being a positive influence and offering guidance.

Mentors and mentees meet 4-6 hours per month in the school. A school faculty member will be present for each session and will facilitate activities to keep the sessions fun and interactive. Activities are one-to-one and in groups.

The New York State Mentoring Program was born from the remarkable vision of The Honorable Matilda Raffa Cuomo, who initially chaired the committee that established the nation’s first school-based, one-to-one mentoring program which operated from 1987 until 1995. In 2015, Governor Cuomo reaffirmed the State’s commitment to children and mentoring by creating the New York Mentoring Program, chaired pro bono by Mrs. Cuomo.

Clyde Community Center
The 21st CCLC in collaboration with Scarlett Thread Ministries is fortunate to have a local community center located at the Christ Community Church of Clyde. This site is a nondenominational opportunity for students in grades 5th through 9th on Fridays from 3:00-5:30. Students have the opportunity to play table tennis, basketball, video games, and much more. Staff and volunteers are on hand to actively participate in such games with students and develop an appropriate relationship outside of the regular school day setting.

Swimming Lessons
We currently offer free swimming lessons to any resident of the Clyde-Savannah CSD. Swimmers are grouped according to skill level which is identified during the assessment. The spring session will begin February 3rd with swimmer assessment. Lessons will take place on the following dates: February 10th, 17th, March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, April 14th, 21st, 28th

We ask that swimmers make a commitment of attending 70% or more of their lessons as space is limited and we have goals to meet in terms of the grant funding.
