2017-18 Board of Education Candidates

Residents will be asked to elect three members to the Board of Education on Tuesday, May 16. The three people receiving the highest number of votes, including write-ins, will earn a three year term each, effective July 1, 2017. The seats are now occupied by Sandi Bastedo, Holly Drahms, and John Sloan. The candidates have submitted a petition and their names will appear on the ballot in order as determined by a drawing lot.

Personal History: Lifelong resident of Savannah and married to Margaret. Three adult children, Susan (Lannon) Townsend, Steven (Sara) DeSanto, and Gabriel (Samantha) DeSanto and six grandchildren.

Present Occupation & Employer: Retired from Clyde-Savannah Central School District as Director of Buildings & Grounds in 2013 after 43 years of employment.

Educational Background: Clyde-Savannah High School, Class of 1971.

Community Activities: Member and Trustee of the Savannah Family of God Church.

Personal Statement: It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve as a Clyde-Savannah Board Member so far and I sincerely enjoy serving the children and families in our school district. I hope to continue to be a part of making positive changes for our community.

Personal History: Married to Peter Drahms. Three children: Olivia, William, and Julia. Olivia and William both attend Clyde-Savannah Elementary. Holly has lived in the District for 9 years.

Present Occupation and Employer: Special Education Teacher at Auburn Enlarged City School District.

Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Unified Elementary and Special Education from Keuka College and a Master's Degree in Literacy from Walden University.

Community Activities: Clyde-Savannah Board of Education

Personal Statement: I believe that all children deserve the opportunity to receive a high quality education. The students of Clyde-Savannah are our future community members and leaders. We strive to educate students who can compete in a quickly-changing world, yet keep the qualities associated with growing up in a small town. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve on Clyde-Savannah's Board of Education over the past three years. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to positively impact our school and community.

Personal History: A near-lifelong resident of Clyde-Savannah, Pam is married to her high school sweetheart, Don, with three grown daughters. Two daughters, Amy and Becky, live in the District. Mrs. Anstee has five grandchildren, all who attend Clyde-Savannah Elementary.

Present Occupation & Employer: Retired from Clyde-Savannah Central School District as a classroom teacher at Clyde Elementary in 2014 after 30 years of employment. Mrs. Anstee continues to substitute in the District.

Educational Background: ​SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Oswego, and Wright State University

​Community Activities: ​Member of the United Methodist Church of Clyde, Board of Directors at the Galen Historical Society

​Personal Statement: ​I always planned to run for school board after teaching so I could continue to serve my community but in a different capacity. I have regularly attended Board of Education meetings for over 20 years and served on the Budget Advisory Committee for several years, so I know the workings and limitations of the Board of Education.
